Rachel Blakeman Weighs In On Assessment Fairness

Rachel Blakeman 1A statewide study of residential tax assessments in Indiana finds that, generally, people who own lower-priced homes are overassessed while those owning higher-priced homes are underassessed.

One reason the new report’s conclusions might not match the Fort Wayne area’s experience is that the study uses statewide data and doesn’t provide a breakdown by individual governing unit – county, municipality or township, said Rachel Blakeman, director of the Community Research Institute at Purdue University Fort Wayne. Read The Journal Gazette Article
