Catherine Rouyes (graduate student, counseling) and Shelby Tappy (graduate student, counseling) presented at the Indiana School Counselor Association Conference in Indianapolis on November 15, 2018. They explored how the McKinney-Vento Act relates to school counselors who work with K-12 students experiencing homelessness.
Barton Price, tutoring development director, presented two papers at the Midwest Regional Meeting of the American Academy of Religion held March 1–2 in Muncie, Indiana. He presented Growth and Decline Models of Holiness Denominations, 1906–1936 and Holiness in the Heartland: A History of Holiness Denominations in the Midwest.
Kent Kauffman, associate professor of business law, had his book, Legal Terminology, 7th ed., awarded a McGuffey Longevity Award by the Textbook & Academic Authors Association on February 25. The award will be presented at an awards reception in Philadelphia on June 14.
Damian Fleming, associate professor of medieval studies, presented his research, “Reading Hebrew Names in Anglo-Saxon English,” at University College London’s Interdisciplinary Medieval and Renaissance Seminar, December 10, in London, England. He also attended a two-day international academic conference at the British Library.
Benjamin Dattilo, associate professor of geology, received the 2019 American Association of Petroleum Geologists’ John Shelton Search and Discovery Award at the organization’s annual meeting last fall. Datillo coauthored Reservoir Characterization and 3D Modeling of Silurian Reef Slopes: Pipe Creek Jr. Quarry, Grant County, Indiana.
Renee Charles (graduate student, counseling) received the 2018 Ike Womack Scholarship from the Indiana School Counselor Association on November 15, 2018, in Indianapolis. The award is given based on high scholarship, leadership and service, and promise of future contributions to the school counseling profession.
Zhuming Bi, professor of mechanical Engineering, received the IEE Region 4 Outstanding Professional Award for 2018 at the organizations’ national conference on January 26 in Tempe, Arizona.
